GTZ- International Organic Round Table

At the International Organic Round Table was a meeting to determine an action plan towards the marketing promotion in West-Africa and South America. This will be a joint- project of the participating organisations.

The objective of the project will be the “Increasing participation of the above target group on the world market.”

To ensure a manageable project implementation projects of the FAO in

Cameroon, Ghana, Senegal and Sierra Leone and the South American Alliance will be the target area. Both projects are working with farming projects in their countries with the same objective as the joint- project. NECOFA projects from Cameroon and Ghana are free to join the programme.  Their organizational body will support their members in their marketing activities.

Contributions will also come from CBI, HIVOS, IFOAM, GTZ and DITSL. Capacity building facilities as well as marketing support are available from the named organisations.

A List of products will limit the number of products the programme is supporting for marketing. This List will be developed for vegetables and fruits. In most cases it would be dried vegetables and dried fruits because it will be much easier to handle the products.  But also fresh fruits and other processed fruits are also welcomed as well. In the import country unknown fresh vegetable could be possibly demanded in small amounts.

The working task of the International Organic Round Table will work out a proposal for the funding of this project, including the contributions of each organization participated at the meeting. The final draft will be send to the German Department of Cooperation for funding.
