Sieve the ash into a bowl or clean floor
Add a small amount of water to the ash as desired and mix to a thick consistency.
Pack the ash tightly into the sieve by pressing very had, one cup at a time.
Count the number of cups of ash as you work on.
To get grade 1 chemical from the ash, use the same amount of water as ash.
Put the shifter on top of a bucket, add water on the top of the ash very carefully and wait for it to come out from the bottom of the shifter by itself.
Collect all the ash juice, which has the colour of tea. This is the grade one chemical.
Failing to have this colour means it was not well compressed or too much water was added. This will reduce the strength.
The grade one chemical is very powerful and will burn crops if used directly.
Take one cup of ash liquid and add 3 cups of water. Taste mixture if it is too strong it will be hot in the mouth. Add one more cup of water and taste again.
The mixture is safe and ready for use now
To make mixture stronger add 1 – 2 table spoonful of powder milk
Apply twice a week using a brush or any similar material
Start to use ash chemical on pepper 3 to 4 weeks after planting and continue during the harvest season
This chemical can also be used to kill maggots in the maize plant by shaking the liquid into the funnels of the leaves.
Sprinkle a circle of wood ash around plants to prevent snails from eating the pepper plant. Do not allow it to touch the plant because it will burn it.
Choose seeds from fresh plants that have bore many big fruits to plant the nursery.
Building up nurseries at home makes it very easy to care for.
Shade the nursery to protect the young seedlings from damage by full sun or heavy rain.
Provide adequate spacing when growing the nursery.
Water is very important for plants to grow well. In the dry season it is usually lack of water that is the most important reason why plants do not grow well.
Use weeded grass to mulch the plant, this will trap water.
Plants such as plantains or some fruit trees growing in the same field will shade the pepper plant from sunrays.
