Activities realized within the period October 2002 – August 2004
Planning and coordination meetings
- 2 National meetings organized ( in Bamenda nad Yaounde)
- 10 Regional meetings organized ( 4 by North West group, 4 by South West group and 2 by the Centre group).
Participation in workshops
NECOFA-CAMEROON participated and made very useful contributions in the following workshops (national and international):
- Workshop on Integrated pest management of crops.
The Ministry of Agriculture in collaboration with GTZ organized this workshop.
The topics treated in this workshop were:
- History and concept of IPM
- International requirements as concerns plant quarantine
- Components of Integrated Pest Management
- Agro ecology notion
- Dangers of the use of pesticides; Impact on human and animal health and on the environment
- Workshop on Global Marketing and trade of Agricultural produce held in Pretoria (South Africa)
Participated in the testing of the efficacy of some plant materials for the control of storage in grains (Maize and Beans)
Basically two trials were conducted involving locally available plants and some proved efficient and farmers are now using them. Detail to be presented.
Participated in the validation of ethno veterinary medicine practices used in treating poultry diseases. Some good results were obtained
Restituted the various branch coordinators and other members on the proceedings of the Uganda-workshop.
Development and submitted to some donors 3 project proposals.

Reach some farmers with Ecofarming technologies to address specific problems
They were:
- Erosion Control technologies (contour farming, vetiver grass strips, contour trenches). (63 farmers groups reached)
- Soil Fertility improvement (using night paddock manuring techniques, improved fallows and use of biofertilizers) (109 farmer groups reached)
- Use of Natural plant materials for grain storage (lantana etc) (261 farmer groups reached)
- Use of Natural plant sprays to combat pest and diseases of some field crops (tobacco leaf spray) (73 farmer groups reached)
- Production of Organically grown Banana, Ginger and pepper. (54 farmers trained)
Assisted the same 54 franers in the certification of their products by ECOCERT SA-F 32600 under the Name “Group DASSI PROFITT”
OFFICE SPACE
- The National office is still patching in the premises of the NGO called PEMSAHR in Bamenda.
- The Branch office of North West patching in office premises of NGO (Save the NatureCentre Branch office in the house of a Member.
CHALLENGES
Insufficient Means for running Network activities (only source of funds is membership dues)Absence of National Secretary of NECOFA – Cameroon.
