Country report at the workshop in Ghana 2004 |
by Lawrence Krampa NECOFA Representative
NECOFA has been collaboration with CARE International, World Vision, GTZ ECASARD and RURAL DEVELOPMENT SUPPORT ORGANSATION (RUDSO) and some Secondary Schools in Kumasi in the field of training.
NECOFA is now trying to become service provider.
Currently there are over 100 registered members from Brong Ahafo, Ashanti, Greater Accra, Volta and Western Regions. These are mostly Agricultural Extension Officers and other NGOs.
NECOFA Ghana operates from the office of the country representative in Sunyani.
This could not be done due to the high cost of registration however this would be done in the near future when funds are available.
The main objective of the training was to introduce ecological farming as new concept of farming. It was also to introduce some new technologies in tomato cultivation and conservation.
259 staff of Ministry of Food and Agriculture benefited from the training.
